Matching a desk to your working space and habits

Perhaps a primary consideration when choosing office furniture is what size of a desktop will best suit your work and the space you have available. The traditional huge executive mahogany or walnut rectangular desk may be completely unsuitable for your active work life style. Consider that if you are constantly rising from your seat and walking to confer with other workers that the traditional square cornered office desk is going to be a constant source of bumps and bruises. This is why office desks designed for work stations where many people are crowded into an area in what is known as office landscape design always have rounded corners on the main desk section and even have rounded corners on the desk extension.

Of course nowadays that desk extension no longer holds and IBM selectric. That groundbreaking typewriter has been replaced with a full color inkjet printer. Office desk furniture is now built for ease of movement when both seated and on the move. Even modern ergonomic office chairs are designed so as to allow us to quickly pivot from point to point at our WorkStation.
