Comfortable furniture design in restaurant style tables and chairs

Friday, August 28th, 2009

One final area where you may not have noticed the occurrence of ergonomic design is in use is in restaurants. Ever notice that your favorite dining spot has chairs that are so comfortable as to entice you to stay and drink another glass of wine or cup of coffee or dessert? Bistro furniture has long been built with customer comfort in mind. The curved back of a padded booth always has sufficient lumbar support. Even the simplest bistro chairs including the original bistro chair created by Michael Thonet in the late 1800s was designed for a restful dining experience.

Ergonomic design is more than the process of building a chair that lets your feet sits flat on the ground. A better premise is to think of ergonomics as a sort of Feng Shui for your body.
