The importance of ergonomics in business environments

As stated above an L shaped office desk is inherently ergonomic. It can be made more so, simply by the use of planned placement of needed items. If you are constantly using a printer and rising from your chair to retrieve copies, then placement of that printer within arm’s length on your L shaped desk’s extension will obviously reduce movement. However one should always remember that forced movement such as rising from your station to walk over to a shared printer allows an irreplaceable moment of stretching and circulatory improvement.

When choosing furniture for any business, thought should be given to ergonomics. Doctors, dentists, and others who routinely ask their clients to wait should make a point of purchasing ergonomic furniture for the reception rooms. Reception chairs need not be the familiar hard plastic joined together rows of incredibly uncomfortable one piece chairs. Clever ergonomically designed chairs and reception sofas are available with subtle, but still present, lumbar support.
